Draft. This text is a starting point and must be reviewed by a lawyer before launch. Items in [brackets] need to be filled in.
This policy explains how chuckletext.com uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. They help the site work, remember your choices and, if you allow it, measure how people find us. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, are covered by this policy too.
Your choice comes first
When you first visit, we only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work. Analytics and marketing cookies are off until you choose to accept them in our cookie banner. Declining doesn't affect how ChuckleText works.
Cookies we use
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| chuckletext_session | ChuckleText | Keeps you logged in and remembers where you are in sign-up | Necessary | When you close your browser, or after [2 hours] of inactivity |
| XSRF-TOKEN | ChuckleText | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | Necessary | Session |
| ct_consent | ChuckleText | Remembers your cookie choices | Necessary | 12 months |
| ct_src | ChuckleText | Remembers which ad or campaign brought you to us | Marketing | 90 days |
| _fbp | Meta | Measures visits and sign-ups from our Facebook ads | Marketing | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta | Stores the ad click that brought you to us | Marketing | 90 days |
[Update this list before launch so it matches the cookies the site actually sets.]
If you accept marketing cookies, we also send Meta a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address and phone number when you sign up, so we can measure our ads. Meta can't read the original details from the scrambled version, but can match them to its own users. See our Privacy policy.
Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the [Cookie settings] link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site, such as logging in, from working.
Changes
We'll update this policy when we change the cookies we use. The date at the top shows the latest version.
